EWM webstore update 1st May 2022
LRDG range exclusive – at the Entoyment Wargaming and Hobby Centre this Thursday the 5th May.
This Thursday the 5th May, will see us visit the best gaming store in the south of England, Entoyment run by friend Peter Valinski. We are setting up a permanent EWM stock stand in his store and this will feature stock of all the new LRDG range of vehicles and accessory kits. Peter offers a huge range of games, models and all manner of gaming goodies as well as many gaming tables for hire. It’s a great space in which to play and buy things for our hobby. I wish it were nearer as I would visit this place much more.
The new EWM stock section will also have a selection of our early war British, French and German models for use in France and the desert operations including some Italian models too. Many of these are from our EWM SUPERCAST ranges. Andy and I are looking forward to the visit to set up this EWM retail space and then enjoy an afternoon of playing games and enjoying time at the store before returning home to the south Island.
This is a first for EWM to have a dedicated stock space at the excellent Entoyment store in Poole, Dorset. We shall be “refreshing the stock” with other items throughout the year. This allows us to present the entire new LRDG range at the store so people can see it and buy it in person at the store along with other EWM goodies he will stock.
If you can make it down that day, it would be great to see you there on the 5th May. We are there till around 7pm. Entoyment Wargaming and Hobby Centre. Unit 2. Fleetsbridge Business Centre. Upton Rd. Poole. BH17 7AF.
LRDG Ford 01 (15 CWT) trucks.
More new LRDG vehicles are the Ford 01 trucks in 3 versions. The last of the new LRDG vehicles in the range are now finished these being Ford 01, V8 trucks in 3 versions. Versions include the Vickers HMG mounted along with either a Boyes ATR or a Vickers K-gun or Lewis. Each features its stores load, being a single resin casting. Both models have 2 crew each with 2 optional LRDG head options and a good selection of accessories. The 3rd is a Medical truck left hand drive, with 3 crewman and a detailed rear area to deal with casualties. All models feature a built & ready truck model onto which you add further details.
EWM webstore update 27th April 2022
Apologies for the long delay in updating this webstore. A combination of factors have contributed to the delay.
- I have been working on a new LRDG and allies range of both models, figures and accessories.
- We had 3 shows in a 5 week period which led to a backlog of orders.
- I have finally moved into but not yet completed a new EWM studio/office/games room that can now be used for photos and processing work on new models, updates and photographs.
As we continue to grow the EWM business and the ranges we make, sometimes it can take a bit longer than we would like to turn orders around. The factors listed are a bit of a toxic combination, apologies to those who have had to wait a bit longer than is usual for your orders, we really appreciate your patience.
We are at the wonderful Partizan show later in May. Again, we cannot carry all the models in our range to shows so please do pre-order so we can ensure we bring what you want to the show.
The new LRDG range is very close to being ready for release, some pictures here to wet the appetite.
When we do a new range, I like to be as thorough as I can be. Tom has been busy working with me on this pretty vast new LRDG range, as has Andy helping in all area’s. the original inspiration book he found is the main cause of the problem…i mean range creation!
The LRDG is one of those rather obsessive subjects, the more you look and appreciate the exploits of the men who fought these machine, their opposition, the allies, the more absorbing the subject becomes. A time consumer on a vast scale. The very many variations of the LRDG vehicles, weapon fits, kit and men makes for a great modelling and gaming subject. The individual character of the machines and men also helps. The range then had to allow for such local and personal characteristics, options for each model. The crew figures all come with optional heads in each kit. The vehicles with optional stowage and the chance to personalise the models. Accessories allow further customization.
The range has consumed much time and effort, multiple vehicle and figure/accessory molds, to enable the models to be available. All part of the job. The more you explore this fascinating subject matter, the more you learn and appreciate what is involved.
Im not one for doing a partial range, so the initial concepts have grown beyond recognition. I hope you will enjoy what has been created.
The LRDG and allies includes elements of the Free French Column Le Clerc, who worked with elements of the LRDG in fighting the Italian desert mechanised units. EWM already make a good number of these Italian units, the Free French are new additions to compliment the LRDG models. Those French forces operating from Chad are in themselves, most interesting models and units. More on those later.
The new LRDG range includes Ford V8’s, Chevrolet WA and 1533 models and Ford F30 trucks along with remodelled SAS Jeeps, crews and equipment’s. New accessories sets covering equipment’s used but available separately so you can further personalise the vehicles and crews. New figures and sets further enrich the new range. A selection of photos here show the work so far.
You will be aware of the increase in prices across many areas. Those directly affecting our manufacturing here at EWM include a doubling of costs in metal, resin and rubbers for molds 30% + increases and we all suffer from increased power costs. Alarmingly, our suppliers of resin and rubber have already warned of further 15% increases on top of earlier ones already in place.
I am very proud of the fact that I have been able to maintain the original costs for some of the older models already in place when I started the business 12 years ago. Alas, the current price increases now force me to increase our prices across may areas. So, I shall be amending prices on both metal and older resin based models in the near future to allow us to continue in business. We don’t have a blanket price increase planned, but if you notice some increases here and there, you will I hope now understand the causes.
On a positive note, postal prices went up in April, they ALWAYS do. Lydia has been able to work with the post office and we have been able to arrange our post such that we can absorb the recent post office increase. A rare thing these days. Postage for the USA has proven to be difficult, with us having to refund the differences in the post charged via the web store, from those charged by carriers to the USA. I hope we can continue to bring these USA postage charges down or at the very least, refund the unspent parts of the charges raised via the webstore.
More details of the new range release to follow shortly. Thank you for your continued business and interest.
UPDATE 24th January
New on the EWM webstore for your delight are the new Rolls Royce 1920 and 1924 pattern Amoured cars, the Morris CS9 AC, and updated version of the German Grill H SPG , Stug A plus a new Campaign version covered in stowage and ………………. the long awaited Circassians for Syria and interwar actions.
PS a quick pic of Toms latest Master just arrived too – Chevy 1 WB truck for early LRDG actions…….
French Desert is also featured and some new models are approaching completion. Le Clerks Free French Column from Chad featuring modified Bedford trucks is close to completion.
Lots more to add but I must now focus the shows for York and Beachhead coming shortly.
Update 14th January
What a busy week it has been. Some important updates for you regarding shows in February. EWM are attending the wonderful York show on the 6th February and also our local show in Bournemouth, Beachhead on the following weekend of the 12th and 13th Feb.
It is really important that you let us have your requirements for both shows and pre-order. The reason’s are we cant carry everything to shows, the new SUPERCAST models are in high demand and Beachhead is the weekend after York and I wont have much time to restock after the York show.
The last 2 shows we did at Partizan and Warfare were just excellent and we are looking forward to seeing some of our customers at both these events in February. But to avoid disappointment, please do pre-order as soon as you can. Our show stands carry a maximum of 4 items , which can be depleted by just 1 very keen customer, as happened at both shows last year.
York is one of our favourite shows and we spend a day or so after he show, enjoying the many wonders and fine beers to be enjoyed in this fine city. Beachhead is organised by our good friend at Entoyment, the best hobby shop and gaming center I have ever been too based in Poole. Details of this massive and up and coming event can be found at https://beachheadshow.co.uk/ . More going on at Beachhead than any other gaming show I have ever been too, I highly recommend you try and attend.
Our next show is Hammerhead in March, another favourite. This will be followed by Partizan in May. It is so nice to be attending shows once again and I enjoyed the many chats and catch-ups I had at the previous 2 shows.
“WHATS ON THE EWM WORK BENCH” is my attempt at getting more regular updates out to our EWM Facebook page, of what we are working on here in the English tropics, in sunny Ventnor, IOW.
The Circassian cavalry are now finished and loaded onto the store………
I plan to do more regular updates and plan to get all of the “new goodies” loaded onto the EWM website as quickly as I can………..promise!
Update 7th December
Warfare show was just brilliant. We enjoyed the show enormously seeing customers old and new, our chats and discussions, so lovely to be at another show this year. So well attended and well run by the organisers. We traveled across the sea to get to the show….well the Solent, but the travel time required was well worth it. A big thank you to all who preordered for collection at the show, this helped us a lot. We have a lot of new stock to now make as well as get all the orders we have in out before Christmas. Our trade show shelves were plundered like never before. The large number of positive comments about the EWM SUPERCAST models was just lovely to hear, thank you.
Tom has made some lovely new masters recently. The Morris CS9 armoured car being just one of them. This master is now ready for molding along with crew figures for the open top turret. As are the new Rolls Royce armoured cars Tom has made. The Circassian Cavalry are now molded, cast and ready for painting and photographs.
Tom has also been busy with more Maharist and Tuareg mounted and dismounted cavalry. The remasted French Colonial and European cavalry are now ready to be loaded up to the store.
My new EWM studio or “man cave” gets ever closer to being ready. Its been a big project to build this year with electrics now in and 2/3rds of the inside walls built. Its the kind of project where you get help from friends and its the biggest thing I have ever built, being within local permitted development. Its now within grasp so i am getting rather excited at getting to populate it with much of my stuff which has been in storage for over 2 years now.
We are prioritising orders with the furthest to travel this week. A huge batch of orders are going out Wednesday, with more to follow as we work through them.
European post changes – NEW please read
We have heard from many of our EU based customers of a large number of orders being delayed, no notification of arrival at customs, no notification of EU imposed import taxes and there being a very stark difference in the EU imposed tax’s and so called “administration” charges being applied. Each example of these issues slows the products you order from us, getting to you our lovely customers who live in Europe.
We have found that by increasing the postage to a “tracked” service has a large benefit to you. The tracking details can be used by you to challenge the postal or customs service operating in your country. For you knowing when your order has landed in their hands, means you can chase them directly, get round the usual excuses given by EU customs of “not here yet” or their failure to notify you when your parcel is ready to be collected.
So we are going to upgrade your postal service to “TRACKED” when the money you have paid for delivery covers this extra postal service fee. Where there is a shortfall, we will send you an email asking for the difference in what you have paid and the additional cost to send your order as a “tracked service”. You always have the option to just have your order sent by STANDARD post service. However, from our experience to date I strongly suggest you upgrade to a tracked service so you can follow where your order is. When upgraded, we will let you have the tracking details so you can follow your order.
Thats it for now…….more updates to follow soon.
18th November UPDATE
British Cavalry units added to the store. these cover from 1914 to 1942, heads from Field Service caps, Solar Topee and steel helmets.
Also included are cavalry conversion sets with different head options including Pith helmets. 50 + new codes and sets are now loaded. Thank you to all those who expressed interest in this new range. Tom made the originals for these 9+ years ago. They have been remastered and remolded and painted by Tony Jones.
10th November Update
So new Italian and SDF models being added to the store currently. These include SDF ford trucks with an LMG and troop carrier versions. New Italian tanks in EWM SUPERCAST for the M11/39 and M40 command tanks. Also, a more unusual subject of Italian colonial troops in the form of Libyan Askari and cavalry.
I have been inspired by the works of Alberto Parducci who paintings and illustrations of Italian military subjects are just fantastic. You can find his works here albertoparducci.it
New Italian tanks in EWM SUPERCAST……
A range of Libyan Askari are made and being uploaded to the store. Tom Lobley made these some time ago and his heads are just fantastic. The cavalry are also being added.
I shall be uploading these over the next few days……..
Work on the Circassian Cavalry is nearly finished and I hope to mold these next week. Tom has been very busy and created more Methardists dismounted to go with the others already made.
More updates to follow…….Enjoy
1st November Update
Warfare the show, will be at Ascot Race Course 27th/28th November 2021. We shall be there both days and look forward again, to seeing many of our customers at the show. Partizan was such a good tonic, to see lots of fabulous games in action and talk face to face with customers old and new.
Please do preorder what you know you want from us as I only carry 3 of each item to shows, and we certainly cant carry all our models to the show, only about 1/3 of what we make currently. The lines we do bring to shows can be quickly sold, but if you preorder, I can make sure you get what you want from us at the show. Im sure you will find other things to tempt you on the stand as well. Simply order via the webstore and check out as “collect at show”.
Warfare is one of our favorite shows and offers FREE parking and there are no charges to get to the show. £8 entry fee once you get there, a lot cheaper to access than Salute which is just before Warfare. Many of our new designs will be on show along with my famous GINGER NUTZ to nibble on. Andy and I look forward to seeing you there.
The EWM Italian range has seen a number of updates and the Webstore now lists the new range of Infantry in M40 continental uniforms. These come with separate heads and are now offered in packs with steel helmets. The same M40 uniform is available with Sun helmets and other head options, suitable for both European and African campaigns.
The range was completely remastered some time ago with new molds and new masters added. The separate heads have also been remastered and remolded, allowing you to pose the figures how you wish. You can add Helmets with feathers both steel and sun as you wish.
New 17 man Infantry squads are now available with steel helmets. These squads contain 2 groups. The fire group made up of a Sargent, 2 x 2 man teams with M30 LMG’s plus 2 riflemen and a 10 man rifle squad lead by a corporal for £12.70.
Orders update. We are running behind on orders containing Latex roads/tracks and our Trench systems. The trench systems are done now in batches to order and the weather is slowing production on our flexible roads and tracks. Your patience is appreciated and rewarded with some extras added to the order.
The British Cavalry so well painted were well received by people viewing them at Partizan and on the web store updates. Thank you to all for your interest in these new models. I hope to add them to the store when I get more of the models back painted.
The French Cavalry for WW2 also received the same remastering and remolding attention. I will be updating the webstore with the new images and prices soon. However, if you order them now from the store, you get the new models and castings, at the current price. I have a policy of not increasing prices on models where I have not had to invest in remastering and remolding. Currently, these French Cavalry are at the same price as when I bought the range in 2010. The price of Metal materials has increased dramatically, no really. The same metal shipment now costs us over 30% to buy. I dont plan on increasing prices and hope this was the last shipment of raw metal material I will have to buy at such an inflated price.
Im working on getting more models made, photographed, coded and on the store. Hope to see some of you at the Warfare show later this month…….
3rd October Update
Some new models added to the store this evening. Some new models and some updated ones. As we prepare for Partizan next weekend, loading the trade racks and immensely looking forward to attending the show in Newark.
The first of our new range of British Cavalry have come back from Tony Jones, who paints our miniatures superbly. The British Cavalry will cover the period from 1914 through WW1 into the Interwar and up to 1942. Separate heads allow anything from Field caps, helmets to sun helmets and solar topee to be used. Some have separate arms which allows a whole load of animated poses not possible as a single casting. Here they are, and will be on show at the Partizan show next weekend. Enjoy
some new head sets added including late war British Tank crews including RAC helmets, Berets with goggles and includes some useful 19 set radio Ariels. Also a range of 1940 Dutch Army heads including steel helmets a field cap and some rifles and a Lewis LMG. All useful for conversion work.
New to the store are a small range of Crusader tanks all in EWM SUPERCAST and Built & Ready format, all with crew and stowage included. It will take you more time to stick on the optional stowage than finish the kits! A15 Crusade Mk II QF 2 Pdr , a MkIII 6 pdr and Crusader AA Mk I 40mm and an AA Mk III twin 20mm anti aircraft versions.
The range of Valentine tanks have been upgraded to EWM supercast and have turned out rather well, including the Bishop SPG.
Last for now is the German Demag half track gun tow. Made in Supercast, highly detailed, just decide if you want the windscreen up or down, and stick driver and passenger in, good to go at £9.50.
Also available now with a PAK40 ATG at £12.50 for both models.
following requests from customers, the British late war tank crew and separate late war tanker helmets, will be available as a set. The models are in a mold cooking this evening.
More updates will follow as time allows…….loads more new things made to be added as I can.
EWM September 29th Update
We are at the Partizan Show on october 10th at the Newark show ground. Its a chance for me to catch up with old friends I have not seen for nearly 2 years and to see Tom, our top figure and model designer. If you want to guarantee we have what you want, please get a show preorder in by Tuesday next week.
Work has started loading many of the “new goodies” onto the EWM trade show racks ready for next weeks departure to Newark. This is a major job which has caused some delays to my updates to the EWM store.
Another cause of delays has been the need to get the new Studio I am building watertight. This build was delayed in the summer due to the catching of the China Virus in July, wiping me out with flu and a chest infection for 5+ weeks. That delay meant that I had to make it weather tight, get the roof on and laid by this weekend just past, as bad weather was predicted. More on the build will be found in a separate post here on the site.
Some new goodies added to the store tonight include a new set of mixed heads for LRDG figures. A mix of 15 New Zealand Lemon squeezer, bush hats, various Arab head dress, field caps and helmets with goggles, solar topees, bare heads and beret heads.
I will try to add a few more as time permits. Cheers
EWM 22nd September Update
